Desk Based Assessments can be undertaken at the earliest stages of a planning application to aid in the design and decision-making process . These involve site visits, documentary and cartographic research, and engagement with the relevant historic environment record and archives. They aim to identify and charatcterise assets and discuss previous and potential impacts on the archaeology, informing the potenital for further work.

Our historic building specialists undertake building recording in line with Historic England’s guidance at all levels. This can be from a level 1 record survey which creates a basic visual record, to more complex levels (2, 3 and 4), where detailed research, measured drawings, and interpretive analysis are required. Our team produces bespoke surveys in line with the significance of the buildings and the impacts of any material changes.
Our team can offer a range of survey options, which include: walkover surveys, LiDAR analysis and interpretation, topographic survey, geophysical survey, photogrammetry and GIS spatial analysis.
Our post excavation team is made up of experienced industry specialists. We can process a variety of finds and environmental samples; and produce specialist finds assessments and analysis reports.
Our team offers a range of graphic services including the production of figures, photogrammetry, illustrations and photography for reports and publications.
It is our duty to ensure all projects are appropriately archived to the relevant standards, guidance. Reports are uploaded to OASIS, with physical archives deposited with the relevant Museums and digital data deposited with the ADS or the relevant repository.
