Project Highlights

2026 has only just begun, keep checking back for updates on this years highlights!

2025 was an extremely busy year for Dee Archaeology. This year we continued our work in England, Wales and Scotland, on a variety of projects both in the field and out. Some of these  highlights include:

• DBA's in the historic counties of Cheshire, Merseyside, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Dundee;
• Historic building recording for large projects, as well as, small scale/private developments;
• Fieldwork in Cheshire, Shropshire, Powys, Lancashire, Staffordshire, Lincolnshire and Greater Manchester. Excavating sites from Roman, early Medieval, Medieval and Post Medieval activity;
• Our specialist team has expanded work on processing finds and environmental sampling, working with other specialists to broaden our services. We have undertaken work for commercial units and academic institutions within England and Wales.
• We've enjoyed returning to Grosvenor Park training excavations with the University of Chester and Cheshire west & Chester Council, as well as, new ventures with Cardiff University in Mid-Wales and Norton Priory Museum and Gardens in Runcorn.
• Dan has been busy again this year with multiple articles in JCAS, on archaeological works in and around the city of Chester .

2024 saw Dee Archaeology working across England and North Wales, on a variety of projects both in the field and out. Some of these  highlights include:

• DBA's in the historic counties of Cheshire, Staffordshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Devon;
• Historic building recording on the Trent and Mersey Canal, several properties for the National Trust  and Wrexham University;
• Fieldwork in Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Shropshire, working on Roman, medieval and post medieval sites, like the medieval monastic White friars site in Chester;
• Specialist work on small finds and environmental samples for in-house assemblages as well as, other commercial units and academic institutions, such as amazing finds from Greenfield Valley in Flintshire.
• We've enjoyed working with the University of Chester and Cheshire west & Chester Council, on the university's training dig in Grosvenor Park.
• Our colleague Dan has also contributed multiple articles to JCAS this year, on archaeological works in the city of Chester .
